Dustin,

Sounds good to me. Plus git logs will show who most recently changed, or contributed the most to any given file so would provide guidance on who might know the file the best..

I'm open to feedback though -- has this been useful in a way I don't 
see? Do you have suggestions for other simple ways to improve 
retention?
