I'd suggest that you use the slave info facility to communicate that  
information.    You're certainly free to put an IP address in that  
file.  On our dynamic slaves, that's exactly what we do -- it's  
automatically populated with hostname, ip info, details on what kind  
of hardware it is, OS, etc...   When you want to know details about  
the host upon which a job ran, you visit that web page, and there it  
is.     I *like* that there is no particular forced relationship  
between slave names and dns hostnames.
