I'm not sure to understand, do you mean that'd be done afterwards by the
administrator through SQL statements or a separate UI handling that kind
of problems ?

In my case, I don't care much about unicity of users, much more about
the fact that it leaves the scheduling broken.

I could step up to propose a fix, but I really have to change the way I
handle our installations first.
FWIW, if that's of interest for others in teams too small to have a
dedicated CI maintainer installing from the released tarballs, not
having the time to really reproduce issues on a dev setup (really
cumbersone in the case of a CI bot), plus being able to afford taking a
master down for debugging leads to live patching, and a negative
incentive to contribute back. Using a dedicated branch to maintain
installs is probably a better start, allowing to let patches flow back
and forth.
