ConnectionLost errors happened pretty soon into the build, repeated 2
or 3 times.

Overall, so far the most stable approach was to run a non-latent
(manually started) slave and use PuTTY + MyEnTunnel for the control
messages. Possibly because of multiple keep-alive settings on both the
slave and sshd sides. Still, even this approach occasionally resulted
in ConnectionLost problems. I my case, the non-latent approach is
problematic because it precludes using both kvm and vbox slaves
(conflict over hardware virtualization support), and, for whatever
reason, the Windows slave was extremely slow under kvm.
