Thank you for comments and suggestion. Some update:

I removed the MyEnTunnel and PuTTY from the picture, it was a mental
legacy of stand-alone, non-virtual slaves. Now connect directly from
(virtual) Windows to Linux master. The problem persists at about the
same rate, every second build fails (although no deterministic pattern
AFAICT).

I'll try this suggestion in the next build cycle. How can I increase
the level of twistd logging for network communications?
