[Buildbot-devel] shell-based source step

Hi,

During 0.8.4-0.8.5 times, while discussing master-side source steps, there
were some ideas about some "shell-based" source step that just calls some
specific commands for update/cleanup actions.

Is anybody working on such step?

I know, that patches for commercial (closed sources) VCS systems will
not be accepted. But is there any chance to get such Shell-based step
merged?

I'm going to rewrite self-made rather complex step for one of proprietary
VCS system from client-side (as of 0.8.4 that we're currently use) to new
master-side architecture and thinking how to do it best way

If it's ok to have such step in mainline, I can make my current
implementation as slave-side script and master-side universal source step
that will just call script with some predefined args/environment. This
should much simplify adding more custom/non-popular VCS systems without
local patches/changes to buildbot itself.

Any suggestions?
