Some of these appears to occur because the slave is running under some 
sort of Windows Vista elevation 'thingy' (yeah, I pretty clueless about 
Vista). In this mode, not all of the environment settings (APPDATA, 
HOME, USERPROFILE, etc.) are set. Is this an error or should the 
testcases be changed to be more robust?

Didn't fcrestois look into this? (well, that was kind of the impression 
I got from #377)
