Hello,

Some thought on this ...
Sure this is not apply to all kinds of developments but
nightly builds are useful as well for checking that the compilation/tests
still pass after the platform has had some kind of upgrade to it's system.
(like a new compiler or a new xxx-dev package for a library that's
used in the project).
For instance it seems like ubuntu regularly release upgrades.

It happened in the past that at release time,
we noticed that tests did not pass anymore/source was not compiling, ...
after applying a bunch of upgrades to the system ...
On such days I wished that I had nightly tests that
would have catched this during normal development period
and not during a stressful release time ...
