Did you not consider Mercurial?
It is really nice to work with and it has such a simple and flexible way
to work with changesets. And I think its mental model is just right.
I've gone from CVS -> SVN -> hg. SVN cut away much of the cruft from
CVS; Mercurial cuts away even more and I think you end up with a simple
and beautiful tool.
