[Buildbot-devel] MailNotifier doesn't fire

On an OS X 10.5.3 System wit bb 0.77 installed, my mail notifier  
doesn't fire.

from buildbot.status.mail import MailNotifier

mn = MailNotifier(sendToInterestedUsers=False,
                   extraRecipients=['christian.unger at mac.com'])

results in

Failure: twisted.internet.error.ConnectionRefusedError: Connection was  
refused by other side: 61: Connection refused.


who knows why?
