[Buildbot-devel] Cannot get sendchange to work

Attempting to run buildbot sendchange against a locally running master:

buildbot sendchange --username=cdahlin --branch=master 
--master=localhost:9988

gives me:

change NOT sent
[Failure instance: Traceback from remote host -- Traceback unavailable
]

I'm running with a custom Source buildstep, so it could be my fault, but 
I need to at least know how to get more information out of this.
