[users at bb.net] nightly database backups

I am running single-master buildbot instance with postgresql and would like
to setup a cron job for nightly backups. searching through the docs didn't
return any results on backups

Wondering if the buildbot master needs to be stopped for this to work
correctly or just doing *pg_dump buildbot* work while the instance is
running?
I am assuming here that if a build is in running state when the backup took
place, restoring from that backup would simply cause running build to be
retried at most
