[Buildbot-devel] Competing with the coming wave of single-platform CI servers

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been discussed ad infinitum before, but it just came up
in my shop again.

With the coming of things like
https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/IDEs/Conceptual/xcode_guide-continuous_integration/200-Adopting_a_Continuous_Integration_Workflow/adopt_continuous_integration.html
developers who are comfortable in their single-platform IDE will
have less and less incentive to come up the buildbot learning curve.
To remain relevant, Buildbot probably needs to work on being more usable
out-of-the-box.

Having a good experience for the 50% of users who only need something simple
needn't conflict with handling the more complex cases.

I'm sorry I missed the 9 hangout, perhaps something of the sort was
mentioned there.

If I had unlimited time, I would try the competing CI tools, measure
their ease of use,
then throw together a prototype buildbot.net front page and
nearly-single-click beginner doc
that achieved similar ease-of-use measurements...
