[Buildbot-devel] Git checkout failing with git-1.8 and up unless (correct) branch specified?

I see the fix, 3cef8ba0fae3b902bdb28f6a952827cf4f08ccb7

But I'm a bit suprised the fix was made on the branch instead of master.
http://trac.buildbot.net/wiki/BranchesAndTags does say that X.Y.Z branches can
have security fixes made after release (and then get a vX.Y.ZpN tag),
but it didn't suggest that development continued there.

Has the fix also been made on master?  I don't see it there,
but maybe I'm just not up on the code.
