I would be interested to hear the reasoning behind this -- both are
challenging projects, with the second requiring a good bit of design
work before coding begins.  I'd suggest picking one to work on over
the summer.  If that gets done ahead of time, we can easily find other
projects that need work.

Most of that information is in the ProjectIdeas page.  You may get a
better idea of the difficulty by diving into one of the referenced
bugs (for #4), or by looking at the existing configuration system and
its shortcomings and proposing a solution on the list (for #6).
