There will be a Buildbot Summit in Mountain View in December, 2010.
You should come!
The agenda will be centered around strategic issues for the project,
although technical discussions will also take place. I have in mind
some changes to the way Buildbot is developed, and I do not want to
make them without input and buy-in from other stakeholders. So I
would love to see all varieties of users of Buildbot represented -
large-scale testing farms, small open-source projects, scientific
computing test systems, continuous-deployment, and mobile devs. And
any other uses I've missed!
Details:
I will be in town from the 13th-16th, so for me the best time to do so
will be on Friday, the 17th. That's still flexible, but I will be
booking travel soon, so if you'd like to attend, let me know soon!
I'm scheduling the whole day, but I will pick a time mid-afternoon for
the main meeting, so that folks in Europe can attend. I'm happy to
host the gathering at Mozilla, but we did the 0.8.0 release summit
there, so if others in town would like to host, speak up.
Dustin
P.S. I don't want to get into strategic discussions on this thread,
but to give you an idea of what I'm thinking about: release schedules,
security incident handling process, developer recruitment and
retention, etc. I'm still sorting it all out (FreeMind is actually
kinda cool!), but I will start introducing topics on the mailing list
for general discussion before the summit, so that we can all come
prepared.
P.P.S. I will be in Toronto 11/16-11/17, and while I won't have time
for a formal "Summit", I'd love to have drinks with anyone in the
area, especially if you can't make it to the Summit.
