Yep, thanks for the confirmation that "project" is currently a required argument for the SVNPoller.  I set project to a semi relevant string and all is going smoothly for the moment.  Many thanks again for your time and apologies for a slightly incoherent mail earlier (have conversation with someone, English <-> French mental gymnastics and rush to pick up kids did not help.)
