[Buildbot-devel] Lost most my data on update to .12, now how to prevent that to go on?

I updated my buildbot to 0.7.12 and got hit by a major dataloss due to the
horizon defaults. Fun times.

Now, how do I prevent that from just going on and on and on? I want to keep
my data, but can't figure out how.
