Ah, this task seems insurmountable for such as I. I was hoping to patch it in locally and show it off in a few days.

I wasn't expecting fewer errors, rather depending on the decompression to verify the integrity of the file.

In that it would require fairly deep and non-compatible changes to Buildbot.

There's no reason to expect substantially fewer errors transmitting
any other kind of file.  This isn't FTP.
