Is there a documentation I can read about that :D? Some pointers to code 
maybe :s ?

As I now understand, you say that those patches don't add a 
repository/name/category/... attribute to the SourceStamps. Actually, 
that was exactly the point of the patch [3], (+ sugar to make some basic 
usage of it).

I have still have no idea what that "category" support means, but it 
seems to me as if those both feature could be complementary. Please 
correct me otherwise.
