The information is in the master.cfg file.  Section 4.9 of the manual
talks about this.  As you can see, the organization and flow of the
manual isn't the best for getting started.  I had a much easier time
following this tutorial:

I have the master and slave on the same host, running with the same
user.  It seems to work fine.
