There was someone in IRC (I'm on holiday and not near my notebook to
recall who, sorry!) who had patched this together and was putting some
docs and tests together before submitting the patch.  Hopefully we'll
see that soon - it would be a great addition to the project!

Note that, at the moment, you can use password authentication - just
not the HTTP authentication methods (digest, basic).
