It might make sense to mix that into the 0.8.0 branch along with
Brian's DB stuff, since it will likely be a big change.  I think we
will put 0.7.x into maintenance mode after 0.7.12, with a few more
bugfix releases but no more features.  So the next release after
0.7.12 would be 0.8.0.
