Agreed, and it looks like your tutorial is heading in the right direction.

The only thing that's a little scary at first glance is the
"virtualenv" dependency. When I think "virtualization", software
packages like qemu and VirtualBox come to mind. From what it looks
like, virtualenv only needs easy_install, so that might be a good
thing to list in the commands.

When you get to writing the part detailing build steps, I'd suggest
separating out the "bells and whistles" section so that people can
skip over the IRC and GUI part if they are content with the web
status.
