Without knowing what you have as 'the apache side correct' it is hard to
confirm/deny that part before looking at other things (and there aint really
much more to look at)

So, your using mod_proxy , do you have :-

ProxyRequests Off
ProxyPreserveHost On

<Proxy *>
  Order deny,allow
  Allow from all
</Proxy>

<Location /buildbot>
  ProxyPass http://localhost:8080/
  ProxyPassReverse http://localhost:8080/
  Order allow,deny
  Allow from all
</Location>

If not you better post what you do have.
