[Buildbot-devel] Build numbers?

How do the buildbot users out there implement and maintain consistent
build numbering? We've already got some pre-buildbot numbering that
we'd like to get in step with, or possibly even adopt a new numbering
system, but just be able to implement it consistently across the
various different builders and buildslaves.

Following on from that, it'd be useful to tag the files in CVS that
were used for each build.

(Being a python newbie who's still getting used to bb, I'm wondering
if there's an easy way of doing  this without much coding)
