Comment:

 I'm re-purposing this bug to rebuild the docs in sphinx.  This has a few
 advantages:
  * better formatting for function parameters, etc.
  * can post it to http://readthedocs.org
  * can link to the tutorial
  * will integrate well with developer documentation
