 I have consistent reproduction.
 Quickfix and explanation are available in
 https://github.com/gracinet/buildbot/tree/3506_dir_upload_hang (and maybe
 that uncovers one or two other issues).

 Can't finish that right now, will resume in two weeks, but feel free to
 elaborate on that if you think that's worth it.
