 There is a minimal "fix" here of course which is that _dovccmd sets
 abandonOnFailure to False in _fetch if retryFetch is set to True.

 It's not ideal though because we frequently see git failures that fail on
 the next invocation so having the more fine-grained retry mechanism would
 help tremendously.
