 I suspect we do need to configure network -- what will the source IP for
 the communication be if we do not?

 The majority of our slaves will be VMs running different Linux distros, so
 we won't have a choice of sharing IPs (although we can use internal IPs,
 and I assume it's easy to find more room in that space).
