 I think issue 22442 is the same thing, since the "fix" there is to use
 `p.communicate`, which is functionally the same as what the Twisted
 reactor does.  Hopefully the Twisted upgrade fixed this, but if not I
 think the next steps would be to start to build some smaller reproductions
 of the problem -- first without a master involved, and eventually boiling
 down to a `reactor.spawnProcess` call.

 I'm glad things are working for you now.  It's a bummer we didn't get to
 the bottom of the issue.
