 Here's my $0.02 and I'm just throwing this out as a 'note' rather than an
 advice.

 Here's a possible reason why I would feel 'uncomfortable' (from the
 viewpoint of a
 new user) in having the create_master generate a 'master.py' instead of a
 master.cfg,
 even though it's just Python code.  (Please note that this is purely a
 psychological thing rather than a technical issue.)

 .cfg implies configuration (user-editable/configurable)
 .py implies code

 If a user creates the buildmaster, he/she would 'intuitively' go to the
 *.cfg to fiddle with the settings.

 After all these years of configuring software, the first place I would
 look
 to configure it is in the .ini/.cfg/.cnf/.conf.  Anywhere else is less
 than
 intuitive. (Which is one of the reasons why I stumbled with Django.)

 That said, perhaps I'm just being too stubborn for my own good.

 So, again. Just my $0.02.
