 Ah.  `PBManager.register` calls `disp.setServiceParent` which calls
 `disp.startService`, which might return a Deferred?  I'm not sure..

 I'm re-running the experiment above with some stack traces to see why
 we're starting two PBServerFactories (which is not the same as starting a
 service).
