Hi,

One possibility that you might want to check is memory consumption. I  
recently ran into similar problems when running two compiling builders on  
the same Mac; it may have started swapping, and the syrup was so thick it  
was almost impossible to reboot the machine remotely.

Another possibility, which I have only seen on Windows, is the  
application's process priority.
