It's 2014, and summer is almost here (or at least, here in the
northeast US, I wish it was). Google Summer of Code 2014 is getting
started, and we need a cadre of mentors this year.

Here's how this works: we generally have two students, and each
student has two mentors: a technical mentor and an organizational
mentor.

The tech mentor is responsible for helping the student navigate the
source code, design solutions, debug their code, and for doing some of
the code review. This requires someone who's hacked on Buildbot, but
not necessarily expertise in the area of Buildbot the student is
working on. That's important, since tech mentors sign up before
students select their projects! It's fine if the tech mentor isn't
available throughout the entire summer, as long as the student's aware
and knows how to find help.

The org mentor handles keeping the student on track with the program
schedule: measuring progress, identifying solutions to getting
"stuck", meeting midterm and final deadlines, and so on. Org mentors
generally communicate with the students at least weekly, and get in
touch with the org administrator (me and in my absence Jared Grubb) if
there are any issues. Org mentoring is a bit more of a time
commitment than tech mentor, although being away for a week is OK.

If you can mentor, or if you have questions, let me know. You'll need
to set up a profile in the 2014 GSoC app [1] and let me know the
username ("link_id") you choose.

The final deadline from Google is April 18, but we'll need to specify
the number of students we can take before that, so please let me know
as soon as possible..

Dustin
